Supporting the work
Greatbook is free, and everything in it is free. There is no trial, nothing that switches off after thirty days, and no part of the grid that asks you to pay before it will work.
That is going to stay true. This page is for people who would like to pay something anyway.
The best way is to buy the premium version
Get the premium version $14.99 once. Your key arrives by email.
It is $14.99 once, it keeps a copy of your gradebook in your own Google Drive so you can pick it up on another computer, and it is the only thing Greatbook has ever charged for. The Google Drive page says exactly what it does, and what it can and cannot see.
Buying beats donating from both sides. You get something for your money rather than nothing, and a purchase is steady enough to plan around in a way donations are not. So if Drive backup is any use to you at all, buy that and stop reading here.
Supporting Greatbook
If you do not need Drive backup, or you bought it a while ago and want to put in more, a donation is the other way.
Donate on Ko-fi Any amount, once or every month. It does not unlock anything.
What it pays for is the unglamorous half of a gradebook. The bug someone hits in the middle of report card week. The import that has to learn one more spreadsheet format. The standards set a state adopted over the summer. Greatbook is in use all year, and most of the work it takes is answering what teachers actually run into.
Supporting Doublespaced
Doublespaced is one person, Justin Delano, and Greatbook is the first thing it has made.
The wider idea is software for teachers that does not take their work off them: no account, nothing of yours kept on our computers, every record in a file you have on your own machine. Greatbook is that idea applied to a gradebook, and it is meant to be the first of several rather than the only one.
A donation goes further than one app here. It is a good part of what makes a second one possible.
What a donation is not
A donation is not a purchase, and Ko-fi does not send you a key.
It will not turn on Google Drive backup, and it unlocks nothing else either, because there is nothing else locked. If Drive backup is what you are after, buy the premium version instead. A donation will not get you there, and untangling it afterwards is email for both of us.
Things worth as much as money
Telling us what is wrong is worth as much, and on a bad week it is worth more.
If something is broken, or Greatbook will not do a thing your school needs it to, write to support@doublespaced.app. A bug reported in October is a bug fixed before June.
Telling another teacher counts too. There is no advertising budget here, and a word from someone who actually marks with it is how this reaches anybody.
